Sophia Jenny is an Auckland-based artist who transforms fleeting moments into art that resonates with peace, wonder, and a touch of magic. Using cyanotype, she creates handmade, limited-edition pieces that celebrate the beauty of life’s simple gifts and the human spirit. Each work invites viewers to pause, connect, and find stillness in our fast-paced world. Through her art, Sophia hopes to inspire a sense of joy, freedom, and curiosity, sharing a piece of her journey and inviting others to discover their own.

“I love the sun, and I’m fascinated by the unique qualities and possibilities of cyanotype as an art-form. It’s the perfect medium for combining my skills as a photographer with my passion for contemporary art.”

The Process

Cyanotype is a photographic process invented in the 1800s. It uses a mixture of light sensitive compounds, which exposed to UV light and washed in water, oxidise to create these gorgeous Prussian Blue images.

It's romantically unpredictable with many variable elements. This makes each hand printed cyanotype unique with their own special properties.
